Ms. Hukel entered the fields of human resources and organizational development with a clear purpose: to drive meaningful change and elevate organizational outcomes through people-centered leadership. Ms. Hukel worked in executive human resources at Health New England from 2014 to 2020. She joined the company as director of organizational development and was promoted to take on the additional role of director of human resources within a year. She later served as acting vice president of human resources while continuing to lead both functions before leaving to open her own company.

In 2007, Ms. Hukel joined Valassis Talent Development, where she contributed to a high-impact media readiness project for the company's marketing division. In recognition of her organizational development work, the president and chief operating officer honored her with both the Platinum Award and the Century Award. In 2012, Ms. Hukel was asked to join the manufacturing division, where she supported a nationwide initiative focused on change leadership, culture alignment and talent strategy. From 2000 to 2005, Ms. Hukel served as assistant vice president and underwriter development manager at Chubb Specialty Insurance, where she oversaw the functional and technical training needs of underwriters across 130 offices in nearly 30 countries. Her leadership and impact in this global role led to a promotion within six months due to her exceptional performance.

Ms. Hukel's academic achievements laid a solid groundwork for her professional career. She earned a bachelor's degree in human resources management from Webster University in 1992 and a Master of Business Administration from Western New England University in 2001.
