Marquis Who's Who Honors Terry Guido for Leadership in Pathology

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / July 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Terry Guido as an experienced professional in pathology research and analysis. As a diligent and meticulous laboratory manager with more than 20 years of experience in her field, Ms. Guido can not only balance the complexities of her work but also excel.

A Drive Toward Discovery

Ms. Guido's professional career has been supported by her academic background. She completed a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in avian science from the University of California Davis. The research and data analysis skills she acquired from this education have bolstered her career ever since. Ms. Guido is driven to uncover the reasons why things happen and dedicates herself to precise diligence.

Ms. Guido first entered the professional world as a research assistant at Athena Neurosciences in 1992. By 1996, she became a research associate at Elan Pharmaceuticals. Just two years later, she was appointed a staff research associate, and five years later, she was appointed a senior research associate. By 2006, she was an associate manager at the company.

Contribution to Alzheimer's Research

During her tenure, she served as a member of a pioneering team and worked with her lab to characterize the first animal model of Alzheimer's-like pathology, and the first ever in the world to see immunization treatment prevent the formation, as well as the removal, of amyloid plaques. This led to the landmark scientific breakthrough that led to the development of the first Alzheimer's vaccine. Ms. Guido's role focused on pathology, involving immunostaining, immunofluorescence and quantifying dystrophic neurites.

In 2009, Ms. Guido became a dual employee, taking on an associate manager position at Janssen Alzheimer Immunotherapy. From 2009 to 2012, Ms. Guido held the role of associate manager at Janssen Alzheimer Immunotherapy. Her research approach went beyond industry standards. While managing research operations for dual roles, keeping data secure and separate between Elan and Janssen, she continued her work at the bench and was tasked to develop more sophisticated immunohistochemical staining paradigms, leading to much more robust and revealing data.

In 2011, Ms. Guido took the position of manager in anatomy and pathology at Elan Pharmaceuticals and continued the dual role with Janssen Alzheimer Immunotherapy. When her work with Janssen and Elan ended in 2012, she decided to look for ways to volunteer her time. One of her favorite ways is speaking to middle school science students about what it is like to be a scientist. Another is working with Walnut Creek United Methodist Church's Extended Families Program that sets up homes, with all the contents needed, for the formerly unhoused families.

Awards, Accolades and Acknowledgements

For her professional contributions, Ms. Guido has received several notable awards. From Elan Pharmaceuticals, she received the Award of Excellence in 2003 and 2004. At Janssen Alzheimer Immunotherapy, her work was acknowledged with the Encore Award in 2012. Additionally, she is a member of Sigma Xi, the international scientific research honor society. Ms. Guido attributes her success to her own curiosity and the support of her mentors, Dora Games and Wagner Zago.

Plans for the Next Steps Forward

Ms. Guido is ambitious about the future. She is thinking of moving from bench research to a writing and publishing career related to science. Ms. Guido is halfway through a manuscript on Alzheimer's disease directed at helping families navigate the difficult experience. In addition to this, Ms. Guido hopes to expand her philanthropic efforts by helping middle school students access laboratory equipment for science education.
