Menopause Costs U.S. Women $1.8B in Lost Wages. And Care Gaps Are Growing
Kamloops, British Columbia - A 2023 Mayo Clinic study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings estimated that menopause symptoms cost U.S. employers $1.8 billion annually in lost working time. And that figure doesn't count the women who quietly reduce hours, turn down promotions, or exit the workforce entirely because no one has addressed the hormonal root cause. Karen Martel Midlife Solutions, a functional medicine clinic founded by Certified Hormone Specialist Karen Martel, is expanding its direct-access hormone care programs this month to reach the estimated 6,000 women who enter perimenopause every day in the United States without a clear clinical path forward.

IRS Collected $104B in Enforcement in FY2023. Illinois Filers Are Exposed
CHICAGO, IL - The IRS collected $104.1 billion through enforcement activities in fiscal year 2023, according to the IRS Data Book FY2023. A figure that reflects a sustained ramp-up in collections after years of reduced capacity. Liens, levies, and garnishments are moving faster than many taxpayers expect. Windy City Tax Relief, a Chicago-based CPA firm founded in 2011, says the pattern it sees most often isn't people who ignored their debt. It's people who waited too long because they didn't know their options before the IRS moved first.

Florida Heat Pushes AC Demand to Record Highs This Summer
PENSACOLA, FL - July 30, 2026 - Florida's summer cooling burden has never been heavier. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's 2023 Residential Energy Consumption Survey, Florida households use more electricity for air conditioning than those in any other state, averaging more than 2,100 cooling degree days annually, a figure that has trended upward for three consecutive measurement cycles. For Pensacola-area homeowners already managing one of the Gulf Coast's most demanding climates, that trend isn't abstract. It shows up in the energy bill, in the service call, and in the HVAC system that hasn't been touched since it was installed. Diamond Air Design, a family-owned HVAC company serving Pensacola and the Alabama coastal region, is addressing this directly by expanding its emergency repair response capacity and making its preventive maintenance membership program available to new customers ahead of what forecasters expect to be another record-heat stretch through September.

IRS Collection Actions Hit a 10-Year High. What Taxpayers Must Do Now
RENO, NV - IRS enforcement is back. And it's hitting harder than it has in a decade. According to the IRS Data Book FY2023, the agency filed over 520,000 federal tax liens and issued more than 1.7 million levies and seizures in a single fiscal year, marking a return to pre-pandemic enforcement levels after years of temporary relief measures. As the IRS continues rebuilding its collection workforce following the Inflation Reduction Act funding provisions, tax professionals are seeing a sharp rise in enforcement notices reaching people who assumed their back-tax situations had simply been forgotten. They haven't been. The Tax Law Pros, a Nevada-based tax resolution firm with 44 years of IRS negotiation experience, is urging taxpayers who've received any IRS notice in the past 90 days to treat it as an active threat. Not a formality.

First Keystone Corporation (OTCID: FKYS), parent company of First Keystone Community Bank, reported an increase in total interest income of $2,124,000 or 5.7%, as compared to the six months ended June 30, 2025. The increase was predominantly due to interest earned on increased balances of interest-bearing deposits held at the Federal Reserve Bank compared to the same period in 2025. Total interest expense increased by $952,000 or 5.1% overall, mainly due to an increase of $598,000 in interest expense related to deposits. The increased deposit interest for the six months ended June 30, 2026 is mainly due to an increase of $1,961,000 in expense related to retail CDs, offset by a decrease of $784,000 in expense related to other retail deposits and a decrease of $579,000 in expense related to brokered CDs. Average retail CD balances have increased $116,059,000 at June 30, 2026 vs. June 30, 2025, while average other interest-bearing retail deposit account balances decreased by $3,184,000 overall during the six month period. These derivative agreements are part of the Corporation’s interest rate risk management strategy and are intended to mitigate exposure to changes in market interest rates. The provision for credit losses for the six month period decreased by $1,203,000 to a credit balance of $689,000 for the six months ended June 30, 2026 compared to expense of $514,000 for the six months ended June 30, 2025. The decrease in the provision for credit losses was mainly the result of a decrease of $9,439,000 in the principal balance of loans from $959,770,000 at June 30, 2025 to $950,331,000 at June 30, 2026.
